The UWM Film Department Presents Three Film Festivals in May

Film lovers, mark your calendars! The Peck School of the Arts Film Department proudly presents three FREE film festivals in the month of May.

Milwaukee Underground Film Festival
- Fri, May 6, 7pm, UWM Union Theatre
- Sat, May 7, 6 and 8pm, Walker's Point Center for the Arts
- Sun, May 8, 3 and 6pm, Kenilworth Square East
(4:30pm potluck between screenings)

The Milwaukee Underground Film Festival was founded and supported by the Film Department and is produced each spring by a dedicated class and a very active student organization, (both named after the festival). It has become one of the most respected of its kind in the world.

"Now in its 11th year, the festival has earned an excellent reputation among filmmakers and attracts entries from around the world," says Film Department Chair Rob Yeo. The 2011 jurors are Roger Beebe, University of Florida; Lori Felker, School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago and UWM Inova Curator Nicholas Frank.

UWM Student Film and Video Festival
Fri, May 13, 7pm, UWM Union Theatre

Celebrating its 30th year! "May's event will be the 60th festival, since it's held at the end of each semester," says Film Department Chair Rob Yeo. The festival is juried by a panel of outside judges and organized by the student organization, Student Cinema Action Network (SCAN).

Senior Screening

Thurs, May 19-Fri, May 20, 7pm, UWM Union Theatre

The Senior Screening showcases the thesis projects of graduating seniors in the Film Department. These student film and video works were created over the course of two semesters and vary widely in both content and form, including narrative, experimental, documentary and animation. "Senior Screening is the culmination of each student's creative output at UWM," says Yeo. "There are always fresh perspectives and surprises in store for the audience."
