The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts Announces 4th Annual Flag Day Celebration

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts is hosting its 4th annual Flag Day Celebration on Friday, June 14 which is sponsored by the Marcus Center and Environmental Systems, Inc. Festivities are at the Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The theme is Honoring the Dead by Serving the Living. This event is free and open to the public.

The event will kick off with a Presentation of Colors given by the Milwaukee Metro Non-Commissioned Officers Council and will proceed with the National Anthem followed by an invocation by Chaplain Rev. Ray Stubbe, USMC.

A moment of silence and POW respect by Mr. Joe Campbell, Vietnam Veteran, is part of the program along with John Malan, Vietnam Veteran & Meteorologist, as the Master of Ceremonies. Paul Mathews, President and CEO of the Marcus Center, will welcome guests and Astha Berry, State Winner of the American Legion Oratorical Contest-Franklin H.S., is the guest speaker

To conclude our program, Dr. Ken Lee, U.S. Army Iraq Veteran & Chief of V.A. Medical Center Spinal Cord Unit, will be the keynote speaker. Following Dr. Lee, there will be live entertainment from 12:30 pm-1:00 pm.

"We feel privileged to be able to host this annual Flag Day Celebration," said Paul Mathews, Marcus Center President & CEO, noting that since it opened in 1969, the Marcus Center has been designated an official Milwaukee County War Memorial. "We hope many in the community will come and join us to honor our veterans for their service to our country."
