Peck School Of the Arts Announces Events Through 2/6

Fri, Jan 28-Fri, Feb 25 - Watershed Milwaukee: Art, Activism, and Community Engagement 2011, Opening reception 1/28 from 5-8pm, UWM Union Art Gallery. A new installation about local and international water issues from Peck School faculty Nicolas Lampert, Raoul Deal, and Colleen Ludwig, as well as Sweetwater Organics. Additional Peck School participants include Art & Design faculty Lisa Moline and kathryn e. martin and student Jesse Graves. Free.

Fri, Jan 28 - International Guitar Night Concert, 7:30pm, Recital Hall. International Guitar Night Concert featuring Clive Carroll, Alexandre Gismonti, Pino Forastiere, and Brian Gore. $22 general/$15 seniors, faculty, staff, and alumni/$12 students.

Wed, Feb 2 - Artists Now: Susie Ganch: Wearable Space, 7pm, Arts Center Lecture Hall
Susie Ganch explores the relationship of the human body to the surrounding space. Her background in biology informs her current art practice. Free.

Thurs, Feb 3 - Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival Monthly Screening, 7pm, UWM Union Theatre. The Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival presents Heartbeats (Les Amours Imaginaries). Francis and Marie are close friends. But, one day, they both meet Nicolas, a young man fresh from the country, and soon, Francis and Marie are both sliding deeper and deeper into obsessive fantasies around this new object of desire. Don't miss this new candy-colored film from Xavier Dolan, the director and star of the 2010 Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival favorite I Killed My Mother. $5.

Thurs-Sun, Feb 3-6 - Winterdances: Égalité!, Thurs-Sat 7:30pm; Sunday 2pm, Mainstage Theatre. Winterdances: Égalité! kicks the 2011 Milwaukee dance season into high-gear by offering two striking masterpieces of the 20th century, from contemporary dance icons Mark Morris and Alwin Nikolais. With the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Department of Dance will present Morris' "Canonic 3/4 Studies" and Nikolais' "Water Studies." The program will also feature premieres from Ed Burgess, ElizaBeth Johnson, and Dani Kuepper. $22 general/$15 seniors, faculty, staff, and alumni/$12 students.

Sun, Feb 6 - Fine Arts Quartet, 3pm, Helen Bader Concert Hall. The Fine Arts Quartet celebrates its 65th anniversary season. Presenting quartets by Joseph Haydn and Aulis Sallinen and a quintet by Anton Bruckner with guest violist Paul Neubauer of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Free. Space is limited and tickets are required. Call the box office at 414-229-4308 to reserve your seats.
