Spotlighting the brilliant Jacob Russell, The Theater Shop in conjunction with The UnClub takes over the Ypsi Alehouse in Ypsilanti, Michigan for this unique one night only event.
You've seen Jake Russell in his provocative and entertaining original shows 'Birth of a Ho' Ass Nation' and 'I Ain't No Joke " as well as 'Represent' at Go Comedy, on stage at Planet Ant, Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, the Independent in Hamtramck, the Blind Pig, Detroit's The House of Comedy, and the Traverse City Comedy Festival.
Jake has performed stand up and improv across the country, including long-form and short-form improv. An alumnus of Go Comedy Theatre, he went on to become a resident cast member and then a member of their teaching staff. He’s the comic the other comedians gather round to hear.
Winner of the Comedy Rumble.
Feature Skippy Rose, native Detroiter and a new mom, brings a chipper animated style contrasting with unexpectedly twisted analogies that’ll turn your frown upside down! You've seen her on Jackie Kashian's Dork Forest Podcast, featuring for Rob Mailloux and Jesse Singh, and with Mike Stanley and Isabel Hagen , as well as the Brewing for Comedy Windsor Comedy Festival and Detroit Women of Comedy Festival.
Opener Brandi Alexander brims with confidence and sass, whether it's observations on making ends meet with dating, the pervasiveness of urban farming, or checking your date’s Netflix history to see if they're a serial killer. She travels the Chicago comedy circuit and beyond, performing at the top clubs in the region such as Zanies in Chicago, the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, and Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle.
Our dynamic MC Lisa Green is a queer stand-up comedian from Ypsilanti, Michigan. Unique and offbeat, they combine the academia, mental illness, goth subculture, and queer joy of an internet-raised Millennial. Lisa's observational comedy shines with a touch of blue humor, occasional dark jokes, and clever wordplay. They have appeared throughout the Michigan comedy scene, including Jester's Court Comedy Festival, Fem Feedback, and Blind Pig Comedy Show, as well as creating their hometown comedy brand of Depot Town Comedy, hosting weekly open mics and booking shows in the Ypsilanti area. When Lisa isn't performing onstage, they're working hard as a grad student/teacher at Eastern Michigan University.
