The Marian-Rice Players (MRP) invites you to step into the enchanted world of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on March 17 – 20, 2016. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, this stage version includes all of the memorable songs from the animated film plus a few new songs written especially for the Broadway musical. Beauty and the Beast takes place in a small provincial town in France. The story begins when an enchantress transforms a young prince into a hideous beast as punishment for his cruel and selfish ways. When Maurice, the town’s eccentric inventor, becomes lost in the woods, he seeks shelter in an old castle, only to find its master to be a horrible beast that takes him captive. Belle, the inventor’s adventurous young daughter, sets out to find her father and, discovering him at the castle, agrees to stay there as a prisoner in return for his freedom. The beast agrees, and Belle soon learns her new “Home” is filled with enchanted objects that serve their master as well as try to make her new life easier. In order to become “Human Again” the Beast must earn Belle’s love and break the spell. Show-stopping numbers include “Be Our Guest” and “Gaston”.
