Williamston Theatre Sells 10,000th Ticket

By:

On Saturday, August 9, 2014, the Williamston Theatre reached a milestone when it sold its 10,000th ticket in a single season for the first time since opening in 2006. In total, 65,425 people have attended regular performances at the Williamston Theatre since 2006.

"This is a very exciting time for us," said Williamston Theatre Executive Director John Lepard. "Our attendance is growing every year, and our geographic reach has widened as well, with over 40% of our patrons coming from outside of Ingham County. It's a testament to the high production quality that we have developed a reputation for over the years."

Evidence of that high production quality is represented in the outstanding number of Thespie Awards (Lansing State Journal) and Pulsar Nominations (Lansing City Pulse) the Theatre received for this current season. The Theatre's productions of The Woman in Black, Over the River and Through the Woods, The Lion in Winter, Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune and The Big Bang garnered a total of 9 Thespie Awards and 31 Pulsar Nominations. The Pulsar Award ceremony will take place next Monday, August 18.

The Theatre's current production, The Big Bang, closes this coming Sunday, August 17, after which the show will transfer to Ann Arbor's Performance Network for a two-week extension. The Theatre will hold its annual fundraising Season Launch Party on September 11, 2014 to kick off the 2014-2015 Season. The 2014-2015 Season begins on September 25 with the World Premiere of Joseph Zettelmaier's The Gravedigger, A Frankenstein Story.

Tickets for the final weekend of performances of The Big Bang, the Season Launch Party, and 2014-2015 Season Subscriptions can be purchased by calling the Williamston Theatre at (517) 655-7469. For more information, visit the Theatre's website at www.williamstontheatre.org.
