Water Works Theatre Co Celebrates 10 Years Of Shakespeare In The Park

By:

Water Works Theatre Company is excited to announce a special celebration event: A Mid-Winter's Tale, Friday, February 26 at 7pm at the Royal Oak Farmer's Market, 316 East Eleven Mile Road in Royal Oak, Michigan. The event will feature original actors in scenes from Water Works Theatre Company's nine years of professional outdoor theatre in Starr Jaycee Park, as well as the official announcement of its 10th Anniversary Shakespeare in the Park in Royal Oak production and director. Tickets are $25 and available online at www.waterworkstheatre.com.

"We started Water Works Theatre Company in 2001 to create a unique, outdoor event that provides professional and emerging professional artists the opportunity to work together, grow their talents and enhance the quality of life in our community. We offer our audience an affordable but full scale professional theatrical experience using paid directors, designers and performers. We even build the theatre itself from scratch every year. Plus, Water Works is the only event in town that does not cost Royal Oak taxpayers any money. The magic of this event is the synergy between its high quality, pleasant atmosphere, affordability and the all-important fact that it is home-grown. Over the years hundreds of local actors and artists have appeared in Starr Jaycee Park before nearly 10,000 patrons. It's been inspiring to share all of those memories with our growing and appreciative Shakespeare in the Park in Royal Oak audience. Seeing our tenth year approach, we can't help but to be re-inspired to achieve even greater heights" said WWTC Executive Producer and founder Ed Nahhat.

Since 2001, Water Works Theatre Company has produced eight Shakespeare plays, one Neil Simon comedy, an award-winning drama about the plight and story of Iraqi women, a commedia show for kids, and eight summers of KidsAct! outdoor performance workshops. Those productions were: A Midsummer Night's Dream (2001), Taming of The Shrew (2002), Much Ado About Nothing (2003), Twelfth Night (2004), As You Like It (2005), Comedy of Errors (2006), Barefoot In The Park (2007), Romeo & Juliet (2008), Heather Raffo's 9 Parts of Desire (2007 & 2008), Macbeth (2009) and The Commedia Robin Hood by Lane Riosley (2009).

A Mid-Winter's Tale will present scenes from Water Works past productions featuring original cast members, with additional appearances by friends of Water Works Theatre Company, light hors d'oeuvres, music, dancing, and an opportunity for guests to contribute to Water Works' continued commitment to the arts in the heart of Royal Oak.

A Mid-Winter's Tale is a one-night-only celebration Friday, February 26 at 7pm at the Royal Oak Farmer's Market, 316 East Eleven Mile Road, Royal Oak MI 48067. Tickets ($25) are available at www.waterworkstheatre.com (will-call only) and will be available at the door (cash & check only).

Water Works Theatre Company, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional theatre company that provides professional caliber experience to the emerging professional theatre artist. For more information log on to: www.waterworkstheatre.com.
