From the heart of the jungle comes the action-packed musical TARZAN, swinging into the Barn Theatre July 23 and running through August 4. With Grammy and Oscar winning music by pop icon Phil Collins and a book by Tony Award winning playwright David Henry Hwang, this thrilling musical - based on the hit Disney animated film - is the perfect adventure for both children and adults alike.

When a shipwreck leaves an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa, the helpless baby is adopted and raised by a female gorilla Kala, played by Barn Theatre matriarch Penelope Alex. Young Tarzan, played by child actor Donny Graves, is soon befriended by the comical young ape Terk, played by first year Apprentice Josh Meredith, who teaches him the ways of the gorillas.

Years later, Tarzan has grown into a young man, athletic and resourceful, played by Jamey Grisham. Tarzan begins to discover his uniqueness and yearns for acceptance from his ape father Kerchak, played by Patrick Hunter. The tribe's lives change forever when an expedition enters the jungle, lead by Professor Porter, played by Charlie King, and joined by his daughter, the curious young botanist, Jane, played by first year Apprentice Hannah Eakin. Jane is thrilled to discover within this new world a wild man living amongst the apes. As she teaches Tarzan about humankind, they begin to fall in love. When their two worlds collide, Tarzan must choose between the life he has known and the world of man.

Phil Collins' lush score includes the up-tempo, spirited "Son of Man," the incessantly catchy "Trashin' the Camp," and the ward winning ballad "You'll Be In My Heart." One of Disney's many animated-films-turned-Broadway-musicals, Tarzan originally opened on Broadway in Richard Rogers Theatre May 10, 2006 and closed the following year in July of 2007. Since then, it has been revised and staged to great success both around the country and overseas.

TARZAN is directed by Eric Parker. Michael Wilson Morgan is the Costume Designer. Set Design is by Steven Lee Burright, and Emily Gardner is the Properties Master. Lighting is designed by Corey Boughton, with Sam Silva as Sound Designer. Nick Hoovler is the Technical Director.
