Shakespeare Royal Oak has announced that tickets are on sale now for a very special movie screening & fundraiser event Saturday, April 13 at Emagine Royal Oak, 200 N Main Street, Royal Oak, MI 48067. Shakespeare Night Fever will feature a screening of the classic movie "Saturday Night Fever" with a pre-show party featuring costume contests, a disco '70s theme dance, silent auction and more. Tickets are $35 in advance and on sale now at www.shakespeareroyaloak.com.

"Last year we had a really great turn-out for a screening of The Big Lebowski. This year we're celebrating the kick off of our 19th season with a fun tribute to Saturday Night Fever," stated Shakespeare Royal Oak Executive Director and founder Ed Nahhat. "We'll have a groovy costume contest, some really incredible silent auction items, including autographed John Travolta photos, and a lot of fun."

Proceeds from the fundraiser event will go to support Michigan's largest outdoor theatre festival, Shakspeare Royal Oak, with proceeds from the event's silent auction going directly to its education programs: KidsAct! and The Water Works Teen Ensemble. The programs enrich the lives of performance minded students from first grade through high school, teaching them a variety of skills centered around a core Shakespeare curriculum outdoors in Royal Oak's Starr Jaycee Park. The program culminates in a live performance featuring what the students have learned. This season, Water Works Teen Ensemble students (grades 9-12) will stage and present their own production of Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Tickets for Shakespeare Night Fever are $35 in advance and $40 at the door on the night of the show. Advance tickets are on sale now at www.shakespeareroyaloak.com. Tickets include admission to the party, screening of Saturday Night Fever, and party favors. A cash bar and food will be available for purchase.

For its 19th season, Shakespeare Royal Oak will present Othello, directed by Frannie Shepherd-Bates, July 25 - August 4 and its Daylight Family Show, The Tempest, directed by Barton Bund, July 27 - August 4. All performances will take place in Royal Oak's Starr Jaycee Park.

Since 2001 Water Works Theatre Company has presented Shakespeare Royal Oak and other award-winning productions. Water Works enhances the quality of life in the community by offering Michigan's premier outdoor professional Shakespeare event in Royal Oak's Starr Jaycee Park. Water Works provides a place to call home for local professional actors, designers, directors, teachers, and other artists in a dynamic collaboration with skilled volunteers and other community supporters.
