The Purple Rose Theatre Company will celebrate its twentieth season with four World Premiere plays by Michigan playwrights in 2010 / 2011: Best of Friends by Jeff Daniels, Corktown by Michael Brian Ogden, Some Couples May... by Carey Crim and Consider the Oyster by David MacGregor. Seven low-priced previews will kick off each run, followed by Press Opening Night during the second week of each engagement. Regular performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 pm with Saturday matinees at 3:00 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm with added performance dates to be announced. All performances will be held at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, Chelsea, Michigan 48118.

Best of Friends marks premiere fourteen for Jeff Daniels (Chelsea, MI). Set in a small Michigan town, this wicked comedy paints a startling, yet familiar picture of two married couples as they navigate the minefield of their friendship until it blows up in their faces. Best of Friends will run for ten weeks from Thursday, October 14 through Saturday, December 18, 2010.

Corktown will be the second play by Michael Brian Ogden (Berkley, MI) to premiere with the PRTC, following up Bleeding Red (2009). Ogden's newest work is a heartbreaking and hopeful dark comedy about an extraordinary day in the life of a Detroit mobster who finds love under the most violent and dangerous of circumstances. Corktown will have a seven-week engagement from Thursday, January 20 to Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Some Couples May... follows Wake (2009) and Growing Pretty (2008) for the third PRTC premiere by Carey Crim (Grosse Pointe, MI). This bittersweet comedy charts one woman's journey with her family through the challenges and heartbreak of infertility to the promise of motherhood. Some Couples May... will have a ten-week engagement from Thursday, March 24 through Saturday, May 28, 2011.

Consider the Oyster is the fourth PRTC premiere by David MacGregor (Hartland Township, MI); Gravity (2009) and Vino Veritas (2008) were both World Premieres, and The Late Great Henry Boyle (2006) was a Michigan Premiere. This deceptively light comedy is takes two scientific facts ? 1) all oysters are born male and then turn female, and 2) doctors are now using oyster shells to help repair human bone ? and spins them into a modern fairy tale that asks: what does it really mean to love someone? Consider the Oyster will run for twelve weeks from Thursday, June 16 through Saturday, September 3, 2011.
