Planet Ant to Open 2015-16 Season with SEANCE 13

Planet Ant Theatre will kick off its 2015-16 season September 25 with a new original comedy sequel Seance 13 featuring the original cast & crew from the 2011 hit Seance 4 in an all new horror spoof. The season continues through July 2016 with more original comedy, award winning published works and showcase shows from the winners of Box Fest and Colony Fest. Seance 13
Kicking off the season will be the theatre's first Main Stage Series production Seance 13 September 25 - October 17. In 2011, Planet Ant Home Team Members Dyan Bailey (Warren), Lauren Bickers (Hamtramck), Michael Hovitch (Ferndale), Sean McGettigan (Dearborn), Tara Rase (Plymouth) and Cara Trautman (Pleasant Ridge) created Seance 4 - the fourth installment in a fictional horror franchise. Four years later, the same group is back to revisit the series nine sequels later under the direction of Shawn Handlon (Harper Woods).

This fast-paced horror spoof follows a young hipster couple who moves into a house where a demon has wreaked havoc for 37 years, including the events depicted in Seance 4. Now, the demon is looking to be born as a human, and has chosen the hipster bride to carry his seed. Meanwhile, a brilliant demonologist, who has ties to this house, seeks to destroy the demon before it can be born with help or hindrance from a pastor, a realtor and a cop with something to prove. Seance 13 plays September 25 - October 17 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm with 2:00 pm Sunday matinees on October 4 and 11. Planet Ant 2014 - 2015 Season
As it has done for more than 20 years, Planet Ant continues to highlight local writers, directors and performers this season. The theatre's Main Stage Series features full-length original and published works with an 8:00 pm show time Friday and Saturday and 2:00 pm Sunday. Late Night Series presentations feature one-act original and experimental material with a 9:00 pm show time Friday and Saturday evening. Tickets are $20 for Main Stage performances and $10 for Late Night performances and can be reserved or purchased online at www.planetant.com or in person at the theatre on the night of the performance based on availability.

Late Night Series
An original one act comedy created by Reclassify Pluto, the improv team that won the 2015 Colony Fest improv competition. Reclassify Pluto consists of the following local improvisers: Maggie O'Reilly, Julia Schroeder, Janelle Soulliere, Katie McGraw, Matt Penridge and Mitch Socia.

Main Stage Series
This award winning play that is based on true events in 1960 London is an ingenious tale of two Hollywood giants-Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier. The place is a West End theater in which Welles is to direct Olivier and the young Joan Plowright in "Rhinoceros," Lonesco's absurdist masterpiece. But it is the rehearsal process that brims with absurdity as titanic personalities, including Vivien Leigh, wrestle the muse in this witty and incisive depiction of the drama of theatre.

The Wilde-Award winning one-man show, Fish Dinner returns to Planet Ant Theatre for the third and final chapter: Fish Dinner 3. Detroit Second City alum Quintin Hicks stretches the limits of character performance and improv to introduce you to a world of unique and unforgettable characters. Side-splittingly hysterical, with pockets of poignant tragedy, expect to see some familiar faces and perhaps a few new ones!

A one act anthology of the best original pieces submitted to Planet Ant's Ant Farm program, which provides a space for local writers to have staged readings of their works.


Late Night Saturdays & Improv Mondays Throughout this season on select Saturday evenings, Planet Ant will present a late night show featuring a rotating schedule of improvisation. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The Planet Ant Improv Colony has generated over twenty original comedies and continues to perform every Monday night in Michigan's longest-running improv comedy show - Improv Mondays. At 8:00 pm the show kicks off with a guest improv troupe followed by a performance by Planet Ant's resident Home Team. The night closes with The Ant Jam, an opportunity for anyone to improvise on the Planet Ant stage. Tickets are $5 at the door.
