Photo Flash: Sneak Peek at the Stars of Open Book Theatre's KIMBERLY AKIMBO
Open Book Theatre Company is excited to present the fourth and final play in its Inaugural Season. Kimberly Akimbo, by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, will open May 1 and run for two weekends. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the stars below!
Set in the wilds of suburban New Jersey, Kimberly Akimbo is a hilarious and heartrending play about a teenager with a rare condition causing her body to age faster than it should. When she and her family flee Secaucus under dubious circumstances, Kimberly is forced to reevaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a scam-artist aunt, her own mortality and, most terrifying of all, the possibility of first love.
The show stars Connie Cowper as Kimberly, Joshua Brown and Krista Schafer Ewbank as her parents, Vanessa Sawson as her aunt and Miles Bond as the boy she meets at school. The Open Book Associate Director Topher Alan Payne is directing the play and designing the set, while Harley Miah is designing the lights.
Kimberly Akimbo will run Friday, May 1st at 8pm; Saturday, May 2nd at 8pm; Sunday, May 3rd at 2pm (followed by a discussion with the artists); Thursday, May7th at 8pm; Friday, May 8th at 8pm; and Saturday, May 9th at 8pm.
Tickets are $20, $15 for students and seniors. Groups of 10 or more receive a $3 discount off all tickets. For tickets and more information visit www.openbooktc.com or call 734 288-7753. Performances will be held at Penelope's Venue, 12219 Dix Toledo Road, Southgate, MI 48195. Open Book Theatre Company is a new not-for-profit, professional theatre Downriver, bringing life's stories to the stage!
