Performance Network Theatre to Present GOOD PEOPLE, 2/21-3/31

Just a two years after its Broadway debut, Performance Network Theatre will engage, challenge, and inspire audiences to discover the hilarity and tragedy of hard work versus sheer luck with the 2011 Tony Nominee for Best New Play, Good People by David Lindsay-Abaire previewing February 21st-February 29th, opening with a champagne reception on March 1st with performances through March 31st. Set in Boston's "Southie" district in 2009 Good People follows single-mom Margie Walsh as she struggles make ends meet after being fired from her job at the Dollar Store by her best friend's son. In the hopes of finding a job, Margie reaches out in desperation to a high school "summer fling" who left the neighborhood to become a doctor. After inviting herself to a chic cocktail party in his lavish home, Margie twists herself into a series of hilariously awkward moments and reveals a secret about their past, putting Margie in the driver's seat for the first time.

Taking on the lead role of Margie is award-winning Detroit area actress/director Suzi Regan. Her most recent artistic contribution to PNT is directing In The Next Room: or the Vibrator Play for the record breaking 2011-2012 season. Other recent credits include acting in PNT's God of Carnage and the award-winning The Blonde, the Brunette, and the Vengeful Redhead. Regan also recently direcTEd Williamston's production of Maidens, Mothers and Crones: Voices from Women of the Midwest.

Director and PNT Artsitic Director, David Wolber leads this dynamic ensemble through the challenging subject matter of Good People after directing the world premiere of Brill at PNT in January. In addition to Regan, MaryJo Cuppone, Ruth Crawford, and Logan Ricket shape Margie's "Southie" world with basement bingo and morning gossip sessions. Qamara "Peaches" Black and Alex Leydenfrost portray the more luxurious world of expensive cheeses and catered house parties in Chestnut Hill. "This production is going to be spectacular. With a production team, director and cast like this and a stellar script we simply cannot go wrong." noted Ricket.

Performance Network Theatre's 2012-2013 Great American Theatre Season poignantly references a range of productions rooted in American culture and storytelling. Good People is the fourth show of the season exemplifying Southie, Boston, and American culture through the analysis of class in the 21st Centuury.
