PRTC Announces Casting Change For BOEING, BOEING 6/17-8/28

By:

The Purple Rose Theatre Company is announcing a casting change for the summer comedy Boeing-Boeing by Marc Camoletti. The role of Robert, originally to be played by John Seibert (Ann Arbor, MI), will now be played by Matthew David (Flint, MI) for the duration of the engagement June 17 through August 28, 2010. Seibert stepped down for medical reasons, but will continue to serve the production as the understudy for the role.

Matthew David is an associate artist at The Purple Rose Theatre Company and is excited to be working on his seventh PRTC production after appearing in Our Town, Bleeding Red, A Streetcar Named Desire, Apartment 3A and Growing Pretty. He is from Flint and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance from University of Michigan-Flint in 2001.

The English adaptation of this French farce features Bernard, a self-styled Parisian lothario juggling three fiancées, each beautiful airline hostesses with frequent layovers in Paris. Bernard's carefully constructed timetable runs like clockwork until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to his apartment at the same time, and his "ideal life" unravels all in one nonstop night.

Boeing-Boeing originally premiered in Paris in 1960. The English language adaptation, translated by Beverley Cross, was first staged in London in 1962. The play was first produced on Broadway in 1965. In 1991, the play was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most performed French play throughout the world. Boeing-Boeing was revived in London in 2007. It once again proved to be a hit with critics and audiences alike and received two Olivier Award nominations. The 2008 Broadway revival won both the Tony and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Play.

Tickets for Boeing-Boeing are on sale now. Reservations can be made by calling the Box Office at 734.433.7673; Box Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. Single tickets are also for purchase at purplerosetheatre.org.
