New McCree Theatre Awarded Grant From BEST Project
By: Gabrielle Sierra
The New McCree Theatre has been awarded a grant from the BEST Project to maximize its capabilities in the areas of governance, finance and technology.
The grant will enable the theatre to retain consultants to work directly with the theatre's board of directors on governance issues, and to work with staff to streamline its financial record keeping. The grant will also enable the theatre to purchase box office software and to train volunteers and staff on its operations. The theatre was selected to participate in this phase of the BEST capacity-building program after going through an initial process aimed at assessing an organization's strengths and weaknesses. The BEST Project is funded by a collaboration between the C.S. Mott Foundation, the Ruth Mott Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, and the United Way. The grant period is through October 2010.
