Meadow Brook Theatre to Continue 50th Anniversary Season with LEGENDS!

By:

Meadow Brook Theatre's 50th anniversary celebration continues with a comedic trip to the 1980s. Small-time theatre producer Martin Klemmer knows he's found the next big Broadway hit: "Star Wars: The Play." He just needs someone-anyone-powerful to return his calls! His best bet to get the attention he needs is to get a famous cast. He goes after big-name stars Sylvia Glenn and Leatrice Monsee for the leads. Unfortunately for Martin, Sylvia and Leatrice can't stand each other, but Martin is convinced that if he can just get them onboard, another big star will join, and he'll have a hit on his hands.

"Legends" by James Kirkwood, is at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester from January 6 through 31, 2016.

"It's about the hysterical journey of getting, or trying to get, this play-"Star Wars: The Play" of all things-to Broadway," says Travis W. Walter, MBT artistic director and director of "Legends." "Finding a hit and getting it to Broadway has never been funnier. I know our audiences will love watching Martin try to keep everything heading the right direction."

A mix of familiar and new faces join the journey for "Legends." Anthony Guest is Martin Klemmer, with Ruth Crawford as Sylvia Glenn and Mary Gant as Leatrice Monsee. Sheila Alyce Slaughter (Aretha Thomas), Tyrick Wiltez Jones (Boom-Boom Johnson) and Matt Siadak (Policeman) round out the cast.

"Legends" is directed by Travis W. Walter and Tyrick Wiltez Jones is the choreographer. Terry Carpenter is the stage manager, with set design by Brian Kessler, costumes by Corey T. Collins, lighting by Reid G. Johnson and sound by Mike Duncan.

Tickets range from $27 to $42 and are available by calling the Meadow Brook Theatre box office at 248-377-3300 or going online at www.ticketmaster.com. Student discounts are available at the box office. Groups of eight or more should call 248-370-3316 for group pricing.
