The members of the Germany-based Fauré Quartett met while studying in Karlsruhe, Germany for the 150th anniversary of Gabriel Fauré's birth in 1995. In 2006, they were signed to a recording contract by Deutsche Grammophon, raising them to the pinnacle of the classic music world. They have made highly regarded, benchmark recordings of works by Mozart, Brahms, and Mendelssohn. In 2010, the Fauré received the ECHO Classic award for their album "Classic Beyond Borders." Their 2008 recording of Brahms' piano quartets was named Chamber Music Recording of the Year. They have toured throughout Europe and the Americas, appearing in major concert halls of London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Geneva, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Milan, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and elsewhere.

In addition to their acclaimed performances of the standard repertoire, the Fauré Quartett has been visionary in their approach and their experiments, from collaborations with big bands and popular artists to appearances in clubs throughout Europe and the U.S. to recordings such as their 2009 album "Popsongs," which includes three of the selections on their April 14 concert program.
