The six-time Tony Award winning Kinky Boots is a fun time at the Fisher Theatre. It is a show filled with heart and friendship will have the audience laughing in their seats while they watch an extremely talented cast perform this fantastic show.

Kinky Boots is the story of Charlie Price reluctantly inheriting his father's shoe factory. Trying to save it, he finds inspiration in Lola, who needs some sturdy stilettos, and the two work together only realizing they have more in common then they originally thought.

The development of Charlie and Lola's friendship is really amazing to watch on stage throughout the show, especially because the actors that take on the role portray them with such endearing emotion. Kyle Taylor Parker plays Lola and Steven Booth plays Charlie. Each actor does a great job on their own with their role, but they really shine when they are working together because they have an energy that just feeds off one another, it especially shows in their duet of "Not My Father's Son."

One aspect of Kinky Boots that is very surprising is from the sound of the title and the picture of the playbill, even the announcement to turn off cell phones to the audience, the show gives off the impression that it is just a happy go lucky one. While it is a fun show, it is one filled emotion and in between the laughter, it touches on real topics and issues and people face in every day life and it is done well. There is a reason it won Best Musical among its six awards at the 2013 Tony's. This is not to say that Kinky Boots is not fun, the show is an amazing, good time and the final number leaves the audience happy and dancing in their seats. Take chance and go have some fun with Kinky Boots!

Kinky Boots is currently running until January 25th at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit. For more information and tickets, visit www.broadwayindetroit.com.
