MIAMI-DADE (March 24, 2026) –

The Joseph Caleb Auditorium’s Caleb Around Town – Black Birth Music Series presents “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” – Birth of Gospel Music in America concert, honoring the Father of Gospel music, Thomas A. Dorsey with a moving musical performance showcasing the artform that masterfully blended secular blues and jazz rhythms with sacred lyrics, creating the vibrant sound of modern gospel music. Sunday, July 5th, 2026, 4 PM at the Bethel Apostolic Temple, 1855 NW 119th Street, Miami, FL 33167.

The Caleb Around Town performance series is an outreach effort designed to inform Miami-Dade County residents about the soon-to-come opening of the Joseph Caleb Auditorium showcasing the local music and dance acts that will grace its’ auditorium stage.

The Black Birth Music Series “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” – Birth of Gospel Music in America concert features acclaimed Grammy-Nominated Johnny Sanders, Faith on Full Ensemble, Francine Ealey Murphy and storyteller Crystal Walker promising a memorable evening of passionate vocals, emotional expression, rich harmonies.

About the Joseph Caleb Auditorium Part of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Joseph Caleb Auditorium was founded in 1977 and located in Liberty City, Miami, is a historic 962–1,020 seat performing arts center and community hub. Managed by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, it hosts concerts, theater, dance, and community forums, serving as a vital venue for African American culture and local events. The Auditorium receives funding through the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, and the State of Florida through the Florida Department of State, Florida Division of Arts and Culture.
