This Weekend At The Maltz Jupiter Theatre: THE ALL NIGHT STRUT! A JUMPIN' JIVIN' JAM

Do you live for the work of legendary songwriters such as Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and the Gershwins?

Then get ready for The All Night Strut! A Jumpin' Jivin' Jam, the musical that will everyone dancing in their seats at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre!

Onstage Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3, at 7:30 p.m., the musical will be performed by soon-to-be graduates of the Theatre's two-year Professional Training Program. Filled with jazz, blues, bebop and American songbook standards, The All Night Strut! A Jumpin' Jivin' Jam is a musical revue that takes audiences on a journey through the Depression, World War II and the post-war boom in a musical celebration of the 1930s and '40s. Weaving together the work of beloved songwriters, the story moves through time and place to capture an epic American era.

"The All Night Strut! A Jumpin' Jivin' Jam is a fantastic blend of high-energy dance, colorful characters and celebrated music," said Julie Rowe, the Theatre's director of education. "Our students have grown exponentially over the past two years in our Professional Training Program, and I'd love to encourage local residents to enjoy a spectacular evening out to support the next generation of great artists."

Directed and choreographed by Broadway veteran and Conservatory faculty member Brian Andrews, the musical features design elements from a host of industry professionals, including scenic and properties design by the Theatre's properties master Casey Blanton, sound design by the Theatre's resident sound designer Marty Mets, lighting design by Michael J. Burris, costume design by Brittani Seach, music direction from Conservatory faculty member John Mercurio and stage management from Noelle Dibble.

Featuring nine local students (ages 17 and up) who have made acting their career choice, the musical will feature the talents of Madeline Gilbert, Sophia Gonzalez, Jawan E. Hayes, Spencer Landis, Allegra Miles, Leandre Thivierge, Frances Weissler, David Cochise Williams and Jessica Harley Woodard.

The only two-year professional training program in Florida affiliated with a professional regional theatre, the students have spent the past two years training 35 hours per week with Broadway and South Florida professionals for all aspects of performing, including acting and acting for the camera, voice and speech, musical theatre styles, multiple forms of dance, music theory, Shakespeare, stage combat, piano fundamentals, career prep and more.

A competitive, audition-only program, the program is designed for students who have graduated from high school who are pursuing a career in the performing arts (or upper level homeschooled students). The nine students will graduate from the program in August, and a new class of students will begin the program in the fall.

"We're so proud of all that our students have accomplished during their time with us," Rowe said. "It's been a privilege to see them thrive as young actors and develop the discipline needed to pursue a successful career in the performing arts. The goal has always been to create working professionals who are ready for the marketplace, and they've shown us that they're ready."

Conceived by Aaron Thielen and Marc Robin, the musical features new musical arrangements by Richard Carsey, J. Micahel Duff, Ryan T. Nelson, Doug Peck and David Siegel, with orchestrations by Dave Siegel.
