The Neville Brothers Come To The Lyric Theater 10/16

By: Oct. 14, 2009

On Friday, October 16 -7:00 p.m the Neville Brothers come to The Lyric. Together and as solo artists, the Neville Brothers have been making music all of their lives. The Brothers are a New Orleans institution, known for their intricate four-part harmonies and passionate, blues-soaked funk that celebrates the heritage of the Crescent City.

The brothers have also continued to enjoy solo success throughout their careers -- particularly Aaron, who crossed over into the pop charts with hits like "Tell It Like It Is," and "Don't Know Much," a duet with Linda Ronstadt.

The group's roots go back to 1976, when Art, Charles, Aaron and Cyril performed back-up to the Wild Tchoupitoulas, a group led by their uncle, George "Big Chief Jolly" Landry. They officially founded the Neville Brothers the following year, leading to the creation of such classics as "Brother Blood," "Yellow Moon" and "Sister Rosa" (an anthem to Rosa Parks).

Now well into their fourth decade of making beautiful music together, the Neville Brothers continue to excite and entertain audiences around the globe with their
signature mix of R & B, soul, funk and Caribbean rhythms. We are proud to welcome New Orleans' "First Family of Funk" to the Lyric Stage.
