Stage Door Theatre's DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS Opens At LPAC, 10/12

By: Oct. 08, 2018

Stage Door Theatre's DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS Opens At LPAC, 10/12 ImageFirst look at Stage Door Theatre's upcoming production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The production will run from October 12th through November 4th in their new home, Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC).

The award-winning musical, based on the hit movie of the same name, follows Lawrence Jameson, who makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money, and Freddy Benson who more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health.

After meeting on a train, they attempt to work together, only to find that their small town isn't big enough for both of them. They agree on a settlement - the first one to extract $50,000 from their mutual target, young heiress Christine Colgate, wins, and the other must leave town.

Sophisticated, suave, and with a good dash of mischief, this thoroughly entertaining musical features a delightfully jazzy score and was nominated for eleven Tony Awards. The music is by David Yazbek (The Full Monty, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and this year's Tony Award winner for Best musical, The Band's Visit). The show's book is by Jeffrey Lane (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown)
