'Singin' In The Rain' Movie Classic Adapted For The Stage
There's Lot of Singing at Stage Door Theatre
The Stage Door Theatre will begin previews of the stage show, based on the classic American musical film, "Singin' in the Rain" on Friday, February 12, with an opening on Friday, February 19.
Set in the 1920's, "Singin' In the Rain" tells the story of the early days of talking pictures. Stage Door cast includes New York actors Vince Wingerter as Don Lockwood, and Jennifer Weingarten as his love interest, Kathy Seldon.
"It's exciting for Kathy and me to get to come to Florida and work together on such a great project," says Wingerter, about his real-life girlfriend, Weingarten. "We're doing the original choreography from the movie, and it's challenging and fun. It gives you an amazing sense of connection with actors like Gene Kelly, knowing they were doing exactly the same steps at exactly the same time in the music that you are."
"Singin' in the Rain" is being directed by Dan Kelley, choreographed by Chrissi Ardito, with music direction by Dave Nagy.
Previews begin Friday, February 12, and it runs through March 28 at Stage Door Theatre, 8036 W. Sample Rd. Coral Springs. Show times are Wed, Thurs, Sat, and Sun at 2:00; Thurs, Fri, Sat at 8:00; and Sunday evenings at 7:00. Ticket prices range from $38.00 to $42.00.
