Rising Action Hosts 85th Birthday Gala Benefit for Vicky Keller 11/16

Rising Action Theatre proudly presents a Gala Birthday Benefit for Ms. Vicky's 85th Birthday on Tuesday Nov 16 from 7:30-9:30 pm at our new theatre space on the Sunshine Cathedral campus at 1480 SW 9th Ave., Fort Lauderdale. The cost is $49.95 and includes: a Cabaret Show featuring 10 performers, hor's dourvres, door raffle, a Dress and Look Like Ms. Vicky contest, a cash bar, and a silent auction. Although this is an 85th birthday celebration Ms. Vicky Keller has suffered some hard times this past year. She has come back from a heart attack with 3 blocked arteries in which the medical bills have left her in dire financial straights: she's been forced to give her condo back to the bank, and she was the victim of senior abuse when over $5000 was stolen from her by someone she housed and trusted.

Ms. Vicky has done so much for the gay community over the past 30 years. Some of her accomplishments include:
Ms. Vicky has served on the board of Pride South Florida for 30 years where she is named Director Emeritus,
Founder AIDS Center One 1985-1989,
Regional Director International Association of Lesbian and Gay Pride Coordinator,
Numerous Marches on Washington,
Founder and Director of Womynsong: Lesbian Chorus,
Music Director Church of Our Savior MCC Boca Raton - 7 years,
Notarized First Broward County Domestic Partnership in 1999
Member of SAGE since 1993,
Fought and Marched against Anita Bryant's Anti Gay Stance in the 70's,
Awarded Straight Ally of the year Award 2007 from the Independent News, and
Adoptive mother to many gay men who were rejected by their families.
Her work for the gay community is exemplary. Not bad for a straight women and mother of 3!

She has given us so much. It's time to give back to her. The proceeds will be given to Ms. Vicky. And in the true Ms. Vicky fashion, she insisted if Rising Action threw a benefit for her, she wants a portion shared with her favorite charity, Rising Action Theatre.
