Palm Beach Institute for the Entertainment Arts is Seeking Submissions for April Storytelling Event

Donna Carbone, the Managing Director of the Palm Beach Institute for the Entertainment Arts (PBIEA), announced that she is accepting submissions for a unique Tongues a'Wagging storytelling event, which will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 5th at 4:00 pm.
"March is Women's History Month, May is Mother's Day and in August we celebrate the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage... three holidays that celebrate the wit, wisdom and wonders of the female gender," Carbone said in a recent interview. "Our April Tongues a'Wagging will shine a spotlight on stories written and read by the women who lived them... stories that changed their lives and the lives of millions of other people. Our topic for our April is: Women: Wit, Wisdom, Wonders and WOW!
We are looking for stories written by women about women... themselves or someone they admire. Whether that "someone" is their grandmother, mother, or sister... whether that someone is a major influencer - a teacher, mentor, doctor... even if that "someone" is the storyteller herself - tell us why you are proud to be a woman."
Tongues a'Wagging is held every eight weeks. This is an opportunity for south Florida residents to tell their personal stories to an eager audience. Carbone, who is the creator/host of these events, commented, "If a genie were to pop out of a bottle and offer me the opportunity to switch genders, I would refuse. Not be a woman? I've never been prouder of my gender than I am today. When I look at my female friends, I see great power and deep wells of caring. The pages of our history books are filled with people of tremendous achievement - people deserving of acknowledgement and celebrity. But, I would rather celebrate the women in our community. We women have within us the ability to get through the most difficult situations and remain whole. We are the caregivers. We are the nurturers. We are The Little Engine That Could... and we can. We can turn being victimized into being victorious. Alone we are formidable. Together we are unstoppable."
To be a part of this event, which will undergo a juried selection process, potential participants must submit a 1200 word essay. Only eight to 10 stories are selected so those who enter early have a better chance of participating. The essays must be true and they must be personal.
All stories will be edited for time and content. They will be rehearsed prior to the show so that even the most novice public speaker can have their moment in the spotlight without their knees knocking. There is no charge to submit a story. The submission deadline is March 28, 2020.
For complete rules and regulations, send an email marked SUBMISSION: TONGUES A'WAGGING to: pbinstituteentertainmentarts@gmail.com. A DO and DON'T list will be sent which will explain exactly what a story must include. Only the writers of the stories selected will be notified.
Tickets, which cost $22.00 and are not refundable, are available by calling Donna Carbone at: 561 743-9955.
Directions can be obtained by emailing pbinstituteentertainmentarts@gmail.com.
