Recently produced at New York City's Roundabout Theater Company, Mr. Marmalade straddles the line of reality and "make believe" as we venture into the world of imagination as told through the eyes of some extremely emotionally disturbed children and their all too real "imaginary friends." Haidle chooses to write and discuss many of the issues facing children today, however, does so with humor. Says Mad Cat Artistic Director Paul Tei, "as it's been said time and time again, be careful what you say, children will listen. Mr. Marmalade discusses adult issues as told from a child's point of view; the key however, is the playwright's ability to find the humor in the serious and unsettling topics that the piece focuses on."
