Paulette Dozier has a busy February and March ahead of her. Tomorrow, February 13th the acclaimed jazz vocalist will be the featured artist in the popular Jazz in the Gables series; on February 15th she will perform live on WLRN's South Florida Arts Beat; and from March 8th through March 24th she will reprise her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill at the Miami Beach Stage Door at the Byron Carlyle Theatre.

Jazz in the Gables is a free music event which takes place at 12:15 p.m. every Wednesday through March 27th, and features a different artist each week. It is a collaboration between the City of Coral Gables, Coral Gables Museum, Business Improvement District, Miami Jazz Coop, and civic sponsors HBO Latin America, and Vizcaino, Gitlin & Zomerfeld, LLP. The concerts take place on the Plaza of the Coral Gables Museum, located on Salzedo Street two blocks north of Miracle Mile.

From probing interviews with artists to lively discussions with curators and impresarios, to unique live music performances, South Florida Arts Beat, hosted by Ed Bell, has become an integral and important vehicle for the region's creative community. Dozier, along with a trio of top jazz musicians, will perform a live concert on the program at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 15th. The performance will be broadcast simultaneously on line at www.wlrn.org (click on the Listen Live icon). As an added bonus, there will be a call in contest during the program - the prize being tickets to a performance of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill.

Dozier's performance as Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill garnered rave reviews when it played at the Boca Raton Theatre Guild, the Broward Stage Door Theatre, and the Miami Beach Stage Door at the Byron Carlyle Theatre in 2012. So much so, that Dozier has been invited to return to the Miami venue to play Holiday once more in March.
In Lady Day, the iconic jazz singer reflects upon her life, loves, tragedies, and triumphs in a powerful monologue interspersed with music from her timeless songbook. Holiday's saga resonatEd Strongly with audiences - recent events, including the heartbreakingly wasted careers of such talents as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse, echo Holiday's sadly familiar story of troubles with narcotics, financial exploitation, and in Holiday's case, sexual abuse. Critics and audiences alike lauded Dozier's performance, calling it authentic, moving, strong and dramatic.

The Miami Beach Stage Door at the Byron Carlyle Theatre is located at 500 71ST Street Miami Beach, Fl 33141. Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill will run from March 8th though March 24th. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets are $38 (with a 10% discount for Miami Beach residents) and are available by calling (305) 397-8977.
