Four scheduled master classes provide an intensified one time look into creativity and theatre.

Beyond Motion, with teaching artist Amy Lademann, is a workshop for all public speakers, actors, dancers, performers and even those who just give the occasional toast. It will explore the power of the body through Yoga; the power of the mind through goal setting and creating your reality; and the power of connection through our senses. This class will be held Monday February 9th, 2009 6:00-8:00PM and the Cost is $50.00 per person.

Also instructed by Amy Lademann is, Life as Art.  Participants will explore the foundations of Alexander Technique, Duncan Dance, Modern Dance, Aikido and Tae Kwon Do as they learn to incorporate more fun and showmanship into their workouts, performances and life (open to all fitness levels and a movement background is not required.)  Life as Art will be held Saturday February 14th, 2009 1:30-4:00PM, enrollment is $65.00

Those with a passion for music will enjoy award-winning recording artist Johnny Rodgers & Tony-nominated actor Brian Lane Green in an intimate master class environment, featuring the Johnny Rodgers Band.  As well as selections on their own various individual albums, Brian and Johnny recently wrote the song "I Never Left" for Liza Minnelli which she sings in her new Broadway show.  Attendees will enjoy an intimate exchange with these musicians/performers, straight from Broadway, in a not to be missed interactive "talk back."  Topics covered will include singing & instrumentation, a behind the scenes look at "putting on a show" and "writing a song" and, they may even perform a song or two. The cost is $20.00 Adults and $10.00 Students. This offering will take place Saturday January 17th, 2009 11:00AM-12:00PM.   (They also invite you to attend "Singing Down the House! Brian Lane Green and Johnny Rodgers in Concert" at the Norris Center, January 16th and 17th at 7:30pm..  Snacks and drinks will be served in this jazz-club environment! Ticket $40.)

Backstage with Alan Campbell, offered on Thursday, February 12th 7:00-8:00pm, takes enrollees backstage with Alan Campbell, Tony-Nominated Actor, and star of "Sunset Boulevard" on Broadway with Glenn Close, and the hit musical "Contact" at Lincoln Center.  Alan has numerous other stage and screen credits such as long-runs in TV's "Jake and the Fat Man" and "Three's a Crowd." Alan will share his "backstage Broadway stories," helps us understand "the business of show business," and relate an insider's view on how a Big Broadway Musical gets from the first reading all the way to Opening Night. As an added bonus, Alan will give you a "behind the scenes" look at the production of "Doubt" that he's starring in for Gulfshore Playhouse. Enrollment is $20 per person and $10 for students.

Gulfshore Playhouse is proud to offer four workshops where interactive study will take place over several weeks.

Monologue Study and Audition Technique will teach participants how to audition well, choose the right outfit, present themselves properly, and drive a monologue home. Director Kristen Coury will help thespians of all ages and experience levels pick out the monologue that's right for them and then coach their auditions.  Those interested should come prepared with some monologue selections to choose from. This workshop will be held Saturdays, February 7th, 28th, March 7th, 2009 11:00AM-12:30PM.  The cost will be $65.00

Teaching artist Leslie Amick will lead Sensory Work for Monologue and Scene Study in which participants learn Strasberg based sensory techniques to bring vividness, concentration, and flexibility to characters. The relaxation based tools will be applied to monologue and scene work. No experience is necessary.  This workshop will take place Monday Feb. 9th, 16th, 23rd, March 2nd, 2009 6:00-7:00PM and the enrollment fee is $50.00

Theatre lovers and thrill seekers alike will enjoy Stage Combat lead by teaching artist Zolan Henderson.  Participants will develop an understanding of body control, coordination, and the importance of safety.  Lessons will cover unarmed and armed stage combat techniques. Working with several partners throughout the training, participants learn how combative scenes further a story line in the same manner as a song in a musical. Enrollment is $50.00 and is open to high school age students and older. Stage combat sessions will be offered Saturday March 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, 2009 12:00-1:00PM.

In Beginning Improvisation workshop participants will learn the principles of improvisation through theater games. If you like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" - style improvisation, these games will help students to think on their feet. They will learn some mime skills and how to speak gibberish. All students need, according to instructor Jim Corsica, is a willingness to take a risk, some trust, and a little twinkle in their eye.  There will be 2 sessions offered of this workshop. Session 1 will be held Feb. 10th, 17th, 24th, March 3rd, 2009 from 5:00-7:00pm and Session 2 will be held March 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 PM.  The cost for this course is $60.00.

Two lectures will also be offered for adults passionate about theatre and the arts.

Demystifying the Bard will explore the language in four of Shakespeare's plays (Henry V, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet and The Tempest) with an eye toward deciphering and "translating" what the playwright wrote. Shakespeare has penned some of the most beautiful speeches and scenes, but his sentence construction and vocabulary can make it difficult for us today to understand what he meant. Attendees, guided by teaching artist Janina Birtolo, will learn how to use the cues he included to discover the meaning and beauty of his work.  These lectures will take place Tuesday February 10th, 17th, 24th, March 3rd, 2009 7:00-8:00PM.  Those interested may attend individual sessions for $20.00 or all four sessions for $75.00

Join Gulfshore Playhouse Founder Kristen Coury for the lecture 'From Page to Stage: Development of a Play or Musical' where she will relate the exciting journey from the "light bulb" moment of an idea through the grueling process of finessing the script, getting it to the producers and the exciting prospect of opening night. This lecture will be offered Thursday, March 5th, 2009 5:00-6:30PM with a cost of $15.00.
