Witch of Washington Heightsa new play by Lionel Goldstein Monday, January 30th at 7:30pm Admission is FREE | ||
Lionel Goldstein, who will be in attendance at the reading, is the author of Anne & Debbie, which premiered last season at the Coconut Grove Playhouse. It starred Lucie Arnaz and Elizabeth Ashley. His second play, Halpern & Johnson, was also made into a television drama by HBO/HTV and starred Laurence Olivier and Jackie Gleason. Witch of Washington Heights is a comedy about a man and a woman - neither in the first flush of their youth - who live in two totally different worlds. They are both outwardly successful in their own fields but they are fundamentally unfulfilled people. They meet through the unlikely intervention of a foul-mouthed repair man and are soon on different sides of a potentially serious legal, medical and moral battle. The play explores the issue that everyone is entitled to worship or pray or believe in whatever they choose - whether it's a High Church of God or coffee grounds on a napkin, or, as in this case - Witches! |
