Carnival Center for the Performing Arts, Miami's newest architectural icon and cultural complex, introduces this week FREE Behind-the-Scenes Tours, further enhancing the Center's accessibility to all South Florida residents and visitors, alike. The tours, offered every Monday and Saturday at noon, give the public a unique opportunity to experience the inner workings of the largest performing arts center complex built in the United States in the last three decades.

The 60-minute guided tours of Miami's "sonic gem" (Chicago Sun Times) and "best live theater" (Miami New Times) include:

  • A stroll through all the theaters, including a walk on their stages when scheduling permits
  • Insider information about the Center's architecture, history and the many stars who already have thrilled millions of Center audiences

"We are proud to offer another opportunity for tourists and locals to visit Miami's state-of-the-art performing arts complex and get to know the Center from top to bottom, inside and out," said Lawrence Wilker, interim president and CEO of Carnival Center.

Since its opening in October 2006, Carnival Center has been hailed as "a project destined to transform the cultural image of the metropolis of South Florida" (Toronto Star;) "one of "10 great places to turn the heat up in Miami" (USA Today) and "a masterpiece of acoustical design" (Miami New Times,) to name just a few of the Center's accolades. The Center has also been nominated for a 2008 Travel + Leisure Design Award.

Behind-the-Scenes Tours last approximately one hour and depart from the lobby of the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House at noon every Monday and Saturday. Free and open to the public. No reservations are needed.
