Exciting Events at Miami Beach's Jackie Gleason Theater!

This summer, the stage is sizzling at the Jackie Gleason Theater as it hosts award shows, concerts, and more for theater lovers of every age! The beautiful theater is located at 1700 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach.

On May 4 at 8PM, Fispal Latino presents Cachao & the Mambo All Stars in concert. Considered one of the founding fathers of mambo music, Cachao has won numerous Grammy accolades including one for his latest album Ahora Si! (2005). Joining Cachao onstage are some of Latin jazz's most brilliant artists including Rafael "Tata" Palau and Dave Valentin. Ticket prices for this event are $26.50, $36.50 & $46.50.

The Gleason congratulates graduates on May 15 as St. Thomas University School of Law's Commencements take place on the Gleason stage. This is a private event, with ticket information available only through the school.

On May 23 the Gleason Theater is the proud host of the 2005 CLIO Awards, honoring excellence in graphic design and advertising. This is a private event with no public ticket sales.

June 1 and 2 the Gleason hosts 2005 Commencements for Miami Dade County Public Schools. MDCPS graduation ceremonies are private events, with ticket information only available through the individual schools.

June 3 marks the anticipated return of JVC Jazz Festival – Miami Beach, presenting Norman Brown's "Summer Storm" featuring Peabo Bryson, Brenda Russell and Everette Harp. Chart-topping guitarist Norman Brown will feature vocalists Peabo Bryson and Brenda Russell along with saxophonist Everette Harp in this special show. In addition to Brown's "Summer Storm" one of today's hottest talents, jazz trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti will also perform. Botti's contemporary pop jazz style has wooed audiences around the world. Opening this exciting show is Raúl Midón, a talented singer/songwriter making his return to Miami. Showtime is 8PM; ticket prices for this show are $62, $52, & $37.

On June 5 the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center presents Festival Yachad 2005. Featuring more than 500 dancers in a spectacular celebration of Israeli Folklore and Jewish culture, the show's colorful costumes, amazing scenery, high-energy choreography and incredible soundtrack create a unique performance that will take your breath away! Performance times are 11:30 AM & 6:30PM (gala performance). Ticket prices for this event are $35, $25, & $15.

June 11 – 18 the Jackie Gleason Theater is the proud home of the Brazilian Film Festival. Showtimes, films, and prices vary; please visit the film festival's official website at http://www.brazilianfilmfestival.com for event and ticket information.

The Gleason rocks on June 24 at 8PM as we welcome Alanis Morissette in concert, presented by AEG Live. Alanis embarks on her first acoustic tour this summer in support of a newly recorded acoustic edition of her landmark 1995 debut album, Jagged Little Pill. Ticket prices for this show are $69.50, $59.50, & $49.50.

The stage heats up on June 28 as the Gleason hosts the Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant, broadcast live nationwide to all Hooters locations! This is a private event, with ticket information only available at http://www.hooters.com/.

The budding ballerinas of Ballet Etudes are back on July 9 with their Summer Repertory at 8PM. Ticket prices are $35, $30, $20 & $15.

Summer comes to a close with more fantastic dance as C.O.M.E. Dance presents a beautiful and sensual performance, Amal Hayati: Middle Eastern Bellydance on July 15 at 8PM. All ticket prices for Amal Hayati are $35.
