International string sensation, Barrage is returning to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall for their High Strung tour on Thursday, March 3 at 8 p.m.

Barrage-a high-octane string group with an international cast featuring eight musicians, combines contemporary world music influences with layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The Players are chosen during intensive audition calls that occur year round and around the world. New players must train for several months before they are able to step onto the stage as full members of the touring cast. The group's new performance, High Strung, offers up a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and incredible performance vitality. The cast delivers the new show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity that will take your breath away.

Since its creation in Calgary, Canada in 1996, Barrage has been featured at events worldwide having played for many Presidents, Prime Ministers and Princes, and their teleVision Productions have aired on several international TV networks including PBS, the BBC, and CBC. "Barrage is all light and heat, warmth and pure joy," says the Chicago Tribune, "This amazing show, ideal for the whole family, is about as blithe, blissful and beguiling as entertainment gets." The Calgary Herald reads, "A smoldering show...The young, talented group of musicians float on cold blankets of fog while sliding through all the realms of the violin."

Ticket prices range from $10 to $40. For more information and to buy tickets, contact the Van Wezel Box office at (941) 953-3368 or log onto www.vanwezel.org.
