In the backyard of a Pittsburgh tenement in 1948, friends gather to
mourn for a blues guitarist and singer who died just as his career was
on the verge of taking off.   This play is part bawdy comedy, part dark elegy and part
mystery.  Pulitzer Prize-winner August Wilson's "Seven Guitars" is the
sixth chapter in his continuing theatrical saga that explores the hope,
heartbreak, and heritage of the African American experience in the
twentieth century.
