LAKE WORTH PLAYHOUSE HOLDING OPEN AUDITIONS FOR ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE

Open auditions for Ted Swindley's musical tribute ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE will be held at 7:00 p.m. on March 2 and 3, 2009 at the Lake Worth Playhouse, 713 Lake Avenue in Downtown Lake Worth. No appointment is necessary.

Wendy Haley will direct the show, which runs April 17 through May 3, 2009 (Thursdays through Sundays) on the main stage.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script as well as singing. Those auditioning should choose 16 bars of music and bring sheet music or a CD without vocals to sing along to.  It is best to sing a song in a country-music style and it is not necessary to sing a Patsy Cline song.

The Lake Worth Playhouse is a not-for-profit community theatre. Actors are not paid for appearing in Lake Worth Playhouse productions.

The Playhouse is seeking actors to play the following roles:

  • Patsy Cline, the legendary country singer
  • Louise Seger, a Texas divorcee and fan of Patsy Cline

The show is a musical tribute to Patsy Cline and is based on the true story of her friendship with Houston housewife, Louise Seger.  Having first heard Patsy on the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1957, Louise became an avid fan. When the great Patsy Cline gave a show in Houston, the two women met and struck up a friendship that lasted until Cline's untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.  As seen through Louise's eyes, the show offers fans - both old and new - a chance to see the American original and dazzling star that was Patsy Cline. All the great songs are featured, including: I Fall To Pieces, Crazy, Walking After Midnight, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, Your Cheatin' Heart, Stupid Cupid and many, many more.

Lake Worth Playhouse is a not-for-profit, non-equity community theatre with a diverse array of offerings, including award-winning dramas, comedies, musicals, area premieres, reinterpretations of classics, children's shows, ballets and operas on film, concert series and alternative programming. In addition to its main stage theatrical fare, the Playhouse presents year-round independent and foreign films in the Stonzek Theatre, an intimate black-box style theatre equipped with a large viewing screen and high-definition projection. The Playhouse offers a variety of educational programs for adults and children, as well as community outreach initiatives that bring cultural programs into the neighborhoods of underserved youth and also make theatre available free of charge for disadvantaged citizens in the community.
