Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre Presents THE BOOK CLUB PLAY, Now thru 6/7

By:

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre is excited to present The Book Club Play, a hilarious new comedy by Karen Zacarías about books and the people who love them, from today, May 13 - June 7, 2015.

When the members of a devoted book club become the subjects of a documentary filmmaker, their intimate discussions of life and literature take on new meaning with the camera rolling. Add in the unexpected arrival of a provocative new member and the sudden inclusion of some questionable titles, and long-standing group dynamics take a hilarious turn.

Actors' Playhouse Artistic Director David Arisco is directing a brilliantly talented and comically gifted cast including Mad Cat Theatre Company Artistic Director Paul Tei (Buried Child, Hedda Gabler, Picasso at The Lapin Agile, The Underpants) and Zoetic Stage Playwright and Co-Founder Michael McKeever (Mothers and Sons, Clark Gable Slept Here, The Timekeepers), joined by Barbara Sloan (The Color of Desire, Vita and Virginia, Everybody Drinks The Same Water), Stephen G. Anthony (Real Men Sing Show Tunes and play with puppets, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, Hank Williams: Lost Highway), Lela Elam (In The Continuum, Ruined, Clark Gables Slept Here) and Niki Fridh (Trust, Summer Shorts, Paradise Motel).
The creative team for The Book Club Play includes: Jodie Dellaventura (scenic design), Ellis Tillman (costume design), Eric Nelson (lighting design) and Shaun Mitchell (sound design).

Preview performances of The Book Club Play will be held Wednesday and Thursday, May 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. The show will open on Friday, May 15 at 8 p.m. and play through June 7, 2015. Evening performances will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with afternoon matinees on Sunday at 3 p.m. A special weekday matinee is scheduled on Wednesday, May 20 at 2 p.m.

Preview night tickets on the first Wednesday and Thursday are $35. Tickets for weeknights and matinees are $45, and on Friday and Saturday evenings $53.
