The Orpheum Theatre Announces 2010 Summer Movie Series, Kicks Off 6/11

The Orpheum Theatre is pleased to announce the lineup of the 2010 Summer Movie Series, sponsored by Roadshow MINI. Jam packed with classic movie hits, the Orpheum's 2010 Summer Movie Series offers big entertainment at a small price. In addition to award winning, critically acclaimed classic films, elaborate pre-movie events are planned, including trivia contests, wine tastings, fashion shows, games, big prizes, vintage cartoons, and sing-alongs with the Mighty Wurlitzer organ. With ticket priced at just $7 for adults, $6 for children under 12, and matinee tickets priced at $5 for all ages, a trip to The Orpheum might just be the Memphis area's best value of the season.

"Our summer movie series offers a chance to experience the magic and grandeur of the few remaining movie palaces of yesterday, " said Pat Halloran, President of The Orpheum Theatre. "Sure, you can rent classic movies and watch them at home, but nothing can compare with Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, and Audrey Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story or Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh in Gone with the Wind on the big screen at the beautiful Orpheum Theatre."

New in 2010 is the addition of morning matinees. "Each matinee will be followed by a special backstage tour of the theatre", said Halloran. "We hope families, day camps, church groups, social clubs, birthday party planners, and local business will take advantage of this unique opportunity."
