Playhouse on the Square's 2013 - 2014 season is coming to a close with the regional premier of 4000 Miles at TheatreWorks, running from today, July 11 - August 3. A critically acclaimed comic drama by new playwright Amy Herzog, 4000 Miles was named TIME magazine's #1 Play of 2012 and was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The heartening story begins with Leo who, after biking for a month from Seattle to New York, reaches a small Greenwich Village apartment where his real journey begins. Reeling from a tragedy, the rudderless twenty-something arrives at the doorstep of his 91 year-old grandmother Vera, an old lefty navigating the rough waters of aging. Together, these two outsiders find their way in one of this year's most touching and acclaimed new plays.

4000 Miles is directed by Tony Isbell, and features Associate Company Member Christopher Joel Onken (The Lyons; Grace) as Leo, Karen Mason Riss (Eleemosynary) as his grandmother Vera, and Theatre Education Assistant Director Carly Crawford (The Great American Trailer Park Musical) as Bec. Elieen Kuo and Alexandra Simota are making their Circuit Playhouse, Inc. debuts as Amanda and Lily, respectively.

The Pay What You Can performance of 4000 Miles is Thursday, July 17 at 8pm, sponsored by Autozone. TheatreWorks is located on 2085 Monroe Avenue. For more information or to make reservations, please call 901-726-4656 or purchase tickets online at playhouseonthesquare.org.
