Orpheum Summer Movie Series to Screen PAN'S LABYRINTH at Halloran Centre, 7/8

The Orpheum's Summer Movie Series returns with a screening of Guillermo Del Toro's dark fantasy Pan's Labyrinth on Friday, July 8th at 7 PM at the Halloran Centre at the Orpheum. This is the first time in Orpheum Summer Movie Series history that a Spanish-language film has been incorporated into the line-up. To help celebrate this historic evening, guests can experience pre-movie activities presented by bilingual regional newspaper La Prensa Latina and Mexican bakery, The Sweet Cake Shoppe.

"La Prensa Latina is thrilled to collaborate with the Orpheum in such an important event," said Vivian Fernández-de-Adamson, Editor of La Prensa Latina. "Not only is it the first Spanish language film screening in Orpheum Summer Movie Series history, it also highlights the growth of the Hispanic community in a diverse city like Memphis. La Prensa Latina has been working with the Orpheum on various projects in order to integrate Hispanics into the great community of the Mid-South through the performing arts and education."

Winner of three Academy Awards, Pan's Labyrinth is the story of a young girl who journeys into an eerie underworld to escape her sadistic army officer stepfather and the Falangist Spain in 1944. This special screening will include English subtitles. Pan's Labyrinth is rated R for graphic violence and some language.

To ensure seating, guests are encouraged to arrive early to the 361-seat Halloran Centre theatre located at 225 South Main Street, next door to the Orpheum Theatre. Doors open at 6 PM and guests can enjoy the drink special, selfie station and pre-movie activities in the lobby. La Prensa Latina will host a trivia game with the grand prize winner receiving a mini electronic notebook. The Sweet Cake Shoppe will be providing an assortment of tasty samples.

The Orpheum's 2016 Summer Movie Series is sponsored in part by Orion Federal Credit Union for a fifth year.
