Hackmatack Playhouse is proud to announce the return of former Artistic Director Steven Dascoulias who will play the role of Inspector Javert in this summer's production of "Les Miserables". Steven is well known in both the Seacoast and Boston area, having performed at venues including Seacoast Repertory Theater, Lyric Stage and at The Hackmatack Playhouse before relocating. For the past several years Dascoulias has been living and performing in Hawaii where he now lives with his his wife, Alexis Dascoulias. Alexis is the Artistic Director of the historic Iao Theater in Maui, Hawaii.

In Hawaii, Mr Dascoulias has performed many roles including Emile in "South Pacific" and Max in "The Producers." He is also widely known for his portrayal of the King in "The King and I", a role he has recreated many times across the United States including at the Hackmatack Playhouse. Mr Dascoulias has been tapped as the Director of the Maui production of "Rent" also this summer.

In a recent feature article in The Maui News, writer Michael Pulliam wrote that Dascoulis is perhaps "the most talented performer on Maui." He is the full-time production manager at the Iao Theater working side-by-side with his wife.

The role of Jean Valjean at Hackmatack this summer will be performed by veteran New York based actor Scott Smith. Other returning performers include Chrysal Lisbon, Eric Rehm, Tinka Darling and Tim Robinson. "The Sound of Music" will feature Katie Rodgers as Maria and "Les Miserables" will feature Tanya West as Madame Thenardier.. Both Miss Rodgers and Miss West are audience favorites and have been absent from the Hackmatack stage in the past few years.
