Portland Ovations helps you beat the winter blues by bringing the crowd participating and family fun Sing-Along-A Sound of Music to Merrill Auditorium on Friday, February 1 at 7pm.

Sing-Along-A Sound of Music is an entertaining winter diversion featuring the most successful movie musical of all time, the 1965 Oscar winner Sound of Music with lyrics to every song up on the screen encouraging the entire crowd to sing along. This is your chance to sing along with Julie and those cute von Trapp siblings, joining in choruses of My Favorite Things while experiencing the classic film on the big screen in magnificent Technicolor and glorious cinemascope. The evening begins with a host leading the audience through a vocal warm-up, judging a costume competition (costumes are highly recommended but not required), awarding prizes and showing the audience how to use their complimentary "magic moment pack" of props. This is an event where the audience truly becomes the star of the show.

Presented on February's First Friday, Portland Ovations has collaborated with PATHS (Portland Arts and Technology High School) to create a Sound of Music flash mob. Dancing to songs from the Sound of Music a group of PATHS dancers will perform a flash mob on Friday, February 1, 2013 in Monument Square, downtown Portland, at 12:00pm and again at 6:00pm.

Tickets for Sing-Along-A Sound of Music are $14 and general admission. To purchase tickets visit www.portlandovations.org, contact PortTIX at 207-842-0800 or stop by the box office window at Merrill Auditorium.
