Penobscot Theatre Company invites the community to enjoy a complimentary sampling of the 2014-2015 season through its much-anticipated Scenes & Songs event, tonight, August 21 at 7:00 pm, at the Bangor Opera House. "We've been preparing for months for the upcoming season, and we're excited to share what's in store!" said Artistic Director Bari Newport. "Joining top-notch performers from across the region, we'll have the amazing Laura Hodos in town, whom our audience will remember from Always...Patsy Cline. She'll give a classic country taste of our season opener, The Honky Tonk Angels, followed by scenes and songs from the remaining shows, including our special holiday production of The Wizard of Oz."

"For our most discriminating patrons, Scenes & Songs is an opportunity to look under the hood of the upcoming season," said Mary Budd, interim managing director. "They'll come and if they like what they see, they'll subscribe. Many attendees will have already subscribed, however, and they just want a sneak peek, or they'll bring friends to show them our work. We're looking forward to a packed house and a really good time!"

Full season subscriptions are on sale now and include tickets to the following productions: The Honky Tonk Angels by Ted Swindley, September 4-21;The Mystery of Irma Vep, A Penny Dreadful by Charles Ludlam, October 16-November 2); Guys on Ice, An Ice Fishing Musical Comedy, January 29-February 15; End Days by Deborah Zoe Laufer, March 12-29; and August: Osage County by Tracy Letts, April 30-May 17. Three-show snowbird packages, FlexPasses, and sharply discounted student subscriptions are also available. All subscribers are eligible for discounted tickets to the The Wizard of Oz, which will run December 4-28, along with other exclusive benefits.

Single tickets for The Honky Tonk Angels and all other regular shows will go on sale August 12. While subscribers may purchase their discount tickets to The Wizard of Oz now, single tickets for this special production will not be available until October 1.

Scenes & Songs is free to the public but space is limited and reservations are required. To reserve a seat for general admission, email scenesandsongs@penobscottheatre.org or call the box office at (207) 942-3333.
