Beginning in July of 2011, Sasha Alcott and Chris Viner started curating a series of "WPC Presents" events in the Bangor area which are evenings of live, original music including acts from the Bangor area coupled with touring musicians. The concept was, and is to cross pollinate the Northeastern United States indie music scene with the burgeoning scene in Bangor. The series has taken place in a variety of establishments and has recently expanded to include acts from as far as Pittsburgh PA.

The duo have announced a new partnership with the Penobscot Theater Company, housed in the historic Bangor Opera House. Artistic Director Bari Newport and Events Manager Brad LaBree will be working with WPC Presents on a music series at the Opera House that both supports and grows the mission of the Penobscot Theater Company. The current PTC mission "To present high-quality, professional works of theatre that inspire the imagination and cultivate a lifelong passion for the art form" melds well with the mission of WPC Presents to make Bangor a destination for professional, live and original music performances.

The first event of the WPC Presents at the Bangor Opera House series will be on Saturday May 12th from 7-9pm, free of charge for admission. Mother Leopard from Portland ME and The Class Machine from Belfast Me will be the performers for this 21+ event.

Donations will be accepted at the event in order to both cover the costs of putting on the event as well as to support the Penobscot Theater Company who work tirelessly to keep the Opera House open and full of quality, professional performances. WPC Presents will also be collecting books, CDs and DVDs in the coming weeks which will then be on sale at the event with all proceeds going to the PTC. Anyone wishing to donate books, CDs or DVDs can drop them off at the Penobscot Theater Company's Box Office between Monday May 7th and Friday May 11th during regular business hours or can contact Chris Viner atchris.m.viner@gmail.com or Sasha Alcott at sasha.alcott@gmail.com. Everyone should also keep an eye out for announcements of other drop-off dates and times in the coming weeks.
