Old Port Playhouse's VOICE LESSONS Closes April 3

By:

If you missed this fun, entertaining show during Mad Horse's Dark Night Series, you now have the opportunity to enjoy it this weekend at the Old Port Playhouse this Saturday night at 8pm! The show will close on April 3, 2010.

The Los Angeles Times named VOICE LESSONS a "critic's choice." The Hollywood Reporter called Tanner's play "A comic gem in every department" and stated it was "about as funny as any play has a right to be." LA Weekly proclaimed that VOICE LESSONS was "wildly entertaining". Variety called the play "uproarious and compelling".

VOICE LESSONS concerns Virginia, a deluded community musical theater diva, and Nate, the put-upon vocal coach to whom she offers triple scale to transform her into a star. Problems only compound for this mismatched twosome when Cheryl, Virginia?s theatrical nemesis, battles Virginia for Nate?s attention and affections. Laurie Metcalf (star of the original Los Angeles production) has said of the play, "It?s Educating Rita where no one learns a thing."

Mad Horse's production is directed by Brent Askari and stars Katherine Davis, James Herrera, and Christine Marshall.

All seats are $15.00. The Old Port Playhouse is located at 19 Temple Street, Portland, ME, with convenient parking right next door (only $1.00 an hour with your theatre ticket). Reserve your seats now by calling the Old Port Playhouse box office at (207) 773-0333.
