The Ogunquit Playhouse, one of Maine's cultural jewels and a cornerstone of America's theatrical heritage, invites fans to take an exclusive backstage tour of the National Historic Register theatre this fall. For more than 80 years, the Ogunquit Playhouse has produced the finest Broadway shows, showcasing over 300 Broadway, television and film stars on its stage. Many who have entered the beautiful historic theatre have exclaimed, "If only these walls could talk!" Well, the walls can't talk, but a group of enthusiastic docents are ready and waiting to share the fascinating stories of the Ogunquit Playhouse.

Go behind the scenes on a walking tour of the historic theater and learn how The Playhouse puts together its award-winning productions. Walk through the stage door to see how the magic on stage is made, from the wigs, the sound, the sets and costumes, to the dressing rooms, where luminaries such as Bette Davis, Celeste Holm, William Powell and Van Johnson prepared for their performances in years past - just as stars still do today! The live tour highlights the history of the theatre, including how it survived the Great Depression, thrived after WWII (when hundreds of summer theatres closed permanently), and how it became America's Foremost Summer Theatre.

Tours are scheduled on the following dates: Fridays, October 4, 11 and 18, Sundays, October 6, 13, 20 and Monday, October 7. All tours begin at 10:30am with an additional abbreviated tour on Fridays at 11:00am. A 90 minute tour costs $10. The abbreviated 45 minute tour costs $5.
