Hackmatack Children's Theater Camp to Present SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR., 8/2-10

By:

The Hackmatack Children's Theater camp presents SchoolHouse Rock LIVE! Jr on Fridays and Saturdays at 10:00 AM, August 2, 3, 9, and 10.

The classic educational cartoon shorts come to life on stage with familiar songs such as "Conjunction Junction," "Interplanet Janet," and "I'm Just a Bill."

As a new teacher (played by Hannah Therrien, of Berwick) frets over her first day of school, the ideas in her head come to life (played by Caylie Cocola-Pope, Kiersten Rylee Jones, and Maggie Morneault, all of Berwick, Ava Magoon of South Berwick, and Chloe Moretti of Eliot), and remind her learning must be fun! These characters are joined by an enthusiastic and charming ensemble (Vivian Burnham and Pascale Parent, both of South Berwick, Alexis Dow of Kennebunk, Hyla E. Fitchett and Mikayla Smith, both of Berwick, Ashtin Gagnon of Rochester, NH, Sidney Gosselin and Olivia Upton, both of North Berwick, Peter and Sarah McTague of Epping, NH, and A. Noelle Moretti of Eliot) who guide the new teacher to a successful first day of school while singing and dancing to grammar, History, and Science lessons.

Campers rehearse for 5 weeks, Monday through Friday, and culminate in a fully staged production, performed on the same set as Les Miserables. They practice theater technique through games, as well as blocking, choreography, and music rehearsals. Campers participate in the painting of their set, decoration of the stage and props, and often contribute to the development of their characters' costumes, hair, and makeup.

School is in session this summer! Please join us as we help our new teacher find success on her first day, and sing along with the songs you remember from your days eating Cocoa Puffs in your pajamas, planted in front of your television screen. It's even better LIVE!

Ticket prices for SchoolHouse Rock LIVE! Jr are $10 for adults, and $6 for students. All shows are at The Hackmatack Playhouse, 538 School Street in Berwick, Maine.

The regular season includes Les Miserables July 31 through August 17 and Driving Miss Daisy August 21 through August 30.
