Good Theater has announced the New England premiere of Amy Herzog's award winning 4000 MILES playing March 6 - 30. Performances will be at Good Theater's home, the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland. For tickets go to the Good Theater website www.goodtheater.com or call the box office at 207-885-5883.

4000 MILES won the 2012 Obie Award for Best American Play. It also won the 2012 New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award and was named the Number 1 show of 2012 by Time Magazine.

4000 MILES stars Broadway veteran Alma Cuervo. Ms. Cuervo has appeared in 14 Broadway shows including Titanic, Cabaret, Beauty & the Beast, and The Heidi Chronicles. Most recently she has been playing Madame Morrible in the national tour of Wicked. Her co-star is Erik Moody who was in Good Theater's production of Striking 12 as well as Forum and Bedroom Farce. Rounding out the cast of four will be Casey Turner and Ruiqi Tang. The show is directed by Good Theater co-founder Stephen Underwood who previously directed Stones in His Pockets for the company. Underwood performs regularly with Good Theater, most recently as the lead in Little Me where he played seven men in the life of one woman.

Underwood is also designing the set with costumes by Justin Cote, lighting by Iain Odlin and the production stage manager is Michael Lynch. Craig Robinson serves as the assistant technical director and Good Theater's Executive & Artistic Director, Brian P. Allen is the producer of the show.

After suffering a major loss while he was on a cross-country bike trip, Leo seeks solace from his feisty grandmother Vera in her West Village apartment. Over the course of a single month, these unlikely roommates infuriate, bewilder, and ultimately reach each other. 4000 MILES looks at how two outsiders find their way in today's world.

Critics praised the original production saying, "Herzog's....humor, honesty and narrative subtlety make this a rarity: a family play that avoids sentimentality or sitcom shtick" - Time Magazine; "A funny, moving, altogether wonderful drama. . . A heartening reminder that a keen focus on life's small moments can pay off in a big way onstage." - The New York Times; and "This well-observed gem deserves to be a hit." - The New York Post.

4000 MILES plays Wednesdays ($15) and Thursdays ($20) at 7:00, Fridays ($20) and Saturdays ($25) at 7:30 and Sundays ($25) at 2:00. There will be an added Saturday matinee ($20) on March 23 at 3:00. There will be a special benefit performance for the St. Lawrence Arts Center on Tuesday March 26 at 7:00.

Still to come at Good Theater is ANCESTRAL VOICES by A.R. Gurney playing April 3 - 14 and starring Brian P. Allen, Bob McCormack, Lee K. Paige, Jocelyn Lavin Pollard and Stephen Underwood.
