Acorn Productions, a staple of Portland's theatre community for over 20 years, is pleased to announce that the company has found a new home for the Acorn Acting Academy, the conservatory-style acting school run by the non-profit organization. The Academy's new home is 528 Main Street in South Portland.

The new space will serve as headquarters, classroom, and also as a much-needed affordable alternative for rehearsal space for smaller theatre companies in the community.

There will be an open house for our grand opening on Saturday, March 16 from 4:00 to 10:00pm. Acorn Productions will be offering complimentary refreshments and drinks, and work by local artists will be available for purchase via a silent auction while guests meet the faculty and learn about upcoming classes and programs. The event is open to all -- please come, see our new space and learn about our plans for classes, as well as our theatre programming including the Maine Playwrights Festival and Naked Shakespeare.

"I am very excited about the new location we have already partnered with local companies for rentals and are getting the classes filled as we speak." Jared Culverhouse

There will be a free acting class offered on March 13 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Additional classes, starting later in March, will include basics like Acting for Ordinary People on Mondays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and both continuing and advanced sessions for more experienced actors and students.

In addition to the new space, Jared Culverhouse has been named Acorn Productions' new Director of Training.
