Last Week in December (December 2-17, 2016)
Encore presents their first production of their 2016-2017 season, The Last Week in December written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar. The Last Week in December is based during one of the most difficult times of year for many people: the week ranging from December 24th to January 1st. Last Week focuses on a young man (Julian) whose grandmother has died of cancer. As he was raised by her alone, and has lived with her his entire life, the transition is monumental but not for obvious reasons. He doesn’t seem to mourn for her and because of this, there is much frustration and confusion demonstrated by his friends and the people supporting him. With 2/3 comedy and 1/3 drama, The Last Week in December offers a unique perspective and pure entertainment based on the lives of people with disabilities.
Show times are:
Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd at 8pm
Friday and Saturday, December 9th and 10th at 8pm
Sunday, December 11th at 2pm
Friday and Saturday, December 16th and 17th at 8pm

Encore Studio for the Performing Arts is Wisconsin's first professional theatre company for people with disabilities. For 26 years, Encore has created original, artist-driven theatre that places people with disabilities at the center of the professional artistic process.

Encore opened its doors on September 6, 2000. Just weeks later, on October 14, Encore premiered its first production, "Not Stubborn... Not Strong-Willed" at Monona Terrace. Since then, Encore has performed throughout Wisconsin and beyond, and its original work has garnered local, regional, and national attention. With a troupe of 21 actors and seven staff, Encore has produced more than 75 original works to date, with many more to come.
