Resist! HENRY THE FOURTH Premieres In Madison February 9

Madison Shakespeare Company announces the upcoming premiere of Henry the Fourth, directed by Francisco C. Torres. The production runs February 9 through February 17 at the Bartell Theatre.

After leading a populist uprising that toppled King Richard the Second, Henry Bolingbroke struggles to maintain control of his own kingdom. He quickly learns that those who supported his drive for power will not easily be silenced. Henry Percy, known as Hotspur, is shaping up to be a formidable opponent. His heir, Prince Hal, can barely keep a sober head, let alone buttress his father's kingship. And, of course, there's the notorious bandit Falstaff to contend with.

Based on Shakespeare's Henry IV Part 1, Henry the Fourth is a history full of strong characters making relatable, complicated choices. The production features original music composed by performers Tom Kastle and Mitchell Manar, lighting by Phil Koenig, sets by Teresa Sarkela, and costumes by Bridget Doxtater and Marie Freese.

The cast features Sam D. White (As You Like It, The Tempest) as Falstaff, Brian McGowan (Titus Andronicus, As You Like It) as Prince Hal, Ari Pollack (Troilus and Cressida) as Hotspur, Martha E. White (Edward the Fourth) as Lady Hotspur, and Sydney Kleinholz (Spring Awakening) as Mistress Quickly.

Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 student pricing, available now at bartelltheatre.org.
