Overture's Playhouse Gallery will feature a special exhibition, The Capitol at 100: Madison Artists Celebrate the Centennial, Sat., Nov. 4 - Sun., Jan 14 with a panel discussion and opening reception on Sun., Nov. 5 from 4-6 p.m. Both the gallery and events are free and open to the public.

The Capitol at 100: Madison Artists Celebrate the Centennial commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Wisconsin Capitol Building through artworks by Madison artists curated by Martha Glowacki. Done in a variety of media, artworks will range from richly detailed examinations of the building's architecture and ornament to personal interpretations of the political history of the Capitol. The exhibition will also include a historical overview of some of the artists commissioned to create paintings, mosaics and sculpture for the Capitol Building.

"Artists are creating new works that respond to the history, architecture or cultural symbolism of the Capitol building and surrounding grounds," said Ted DeDee, Overture's president and CEO. "We're so grateful to the Madison Community Foundation for helping us bring this exhibit to life."

Artists include Eric Baillies, Brenda Baker, Randall Berndt, Michael Duffy, Leah Evans, Patrick Flynn, Lisa Frank, Tom Jones, Helen Klebesadel, Lewis Koch, John Miller, Yvette Pino, Beth Racette, Bird Ross and Gregory Vershbow.

Panel Discussion | Sun., Nov. 5, 4-5 p.m. | Rotunda Studio

Panel discussion participants include exhibition artists with Michael Edmonds from the Wisconsin Historical Society and will be moderated by exhibition curator Martha Glowacki.

Reception | Sun., Nov. 5, 5-6 p.m. | Playhouse Gallery

A closing reception will occur on Fri., Jan. 12 from 6-8 p.m. in Playhouse Gallery in conjunction with the opening reception for Overture Galleries I, II and III.
